The idea for this post came into my head from today’s planning meeting with a couple, they asked the question after seeing the program about how Centre Frame handles images post wedding, backup of images, storage of images, etc.

Essentially the wedding photography image backup process goes as follows.

  • Images are imported from multiple memory cards to a Master mirrored hard-drive, this means that there are now technically 3 copies of all the images.  (If a drive fails, the exact image of that drive can be recovered from it’s replica drive quickly, while the originals are still stored on memory card).
  • Images on the Master drive are then copied to a fast external Server (again with mirrored drives).
  • The images on the Server are then slowly copied to secure Cloud storage while being worked on.
  • At this point there are the originals on the memory cards, on the Master drive, on the Server and Cloud storage (SIX backups, madness!).
  • Memory cards are now wiped.
  • Once a clients images are processed, their disc is shipped to them, then the Master drive’s images are removed, while still being kept on the Server and Cloud storage.
  • Clients images are archived for up to 5 years on physical media in our office and a yet undetermined time on Cloud storage.

So if you’re still awake, rest assured your images are VERY safe with Centre Frame.

You receive a disc of images with Centre Frame regardless, along with 10 free 5×7 images but what then?

If you use a local minilab that uses auto-correcting software, image enhancement techniques or has an untrained (sometimes uncaring!) staff member you may be disappointed with the results.  Prints could come out not as sharp as they could have, over-sharpened or even with a poor colour cast, meaning that you’ll either have to take them back, have them reprinted somewhere else or just put up with looking like Kermit.

While the .90c per print might sound good, often print quality is “OK” at the start and tends to fade, warp or otherwise and while the place your printing from could use recognised Kodak or Fuji equipment, it’s the attention to detail that’s the most important thing.  Prints should be able, under the right conditions to outlast you.

Centre Frame chooses to use Nulab, one of the (if not THE) most respected printing labs in Australia, with a track record of proven results.

When you have prints done through us, you have them done correctly, the first time.

That model would end up to be the gorgeous Isabel Fernandez.

With the help of Shannon from Purelyou Salon and Alera from One White Dress we managed to bring the Marie Antoinette movie to life through styling, makeup and some serious hair construction!

We also had some special guests attend from GVG Media, who created a Photosphere of the Cairns Botanic Gardens shoot locations, find it here (click me)
